Aluminium doors are renowned for their smooth operation and reliability. Our bifolding doors feature a dual roller system at the bottom, with top-guided rollers ensuring effortless movement. The doors are bottom-rolling rather than top-hung, which means they don’t require heavy lintels for support, making them easier to install and operate.
Here at Mastercraft, our aluminium bi-fold doors are also crafted using slim 60mm thermally broken profiles. This enables larger glass panels with fewer frames, increasing natural light and delivering uninterrupted views of the outside world. With no additional mullions between the panels, sight lines are significantly reduced, so when the panels fold and slide, the aluminium profile from glass edge to glass edge is only 132mm. Each individual door panel can be up to 1 metre wide, providing expansive glass openings with minimal aluminium framing, allowing more natural light to flood your home.
You can choose between weathered or low thresholds, both of which come with standard solar control double glazing. Our exclusive concealed trickle vent option is also available, making our Visofold 1000 aluminium bi-fold doors our best-selling folding door solution. These doors are available in a vast range of finishes, with over 200 RAL colours to choose from, and are built with high-quality hardware for effortless sliding.
The panels of our bi-fold doors neatly stack together when fully opened, with the remaining hinged panel held in place by a magnetic chrome catch at the bottom. You can specify whether the doors should open inwards or outwards at no extra cost, ensuring a customised fit for your space. Since each door is made to order, you can be confident of a perfect, tailored solution from our team here at Mastercraft.
Our made-to-measure bi-fold doors are supplied with STAYCOOL double glazing, providing an impressive 1.1 U-value for excellent energy efficiency. The glazing reflects 57% of direct sunlight, reducing solar gain and glare by 35%, protecting both you and your furnishings from excessive heat and UV damage.
Visofold aluminium bi-fold doors come with high-security shoot bolt locks as standard, while traffic doors are fitted with multi-point hook bolt locking for added security. The locking system, hinges, and running gear are fully concealed when the door is closed, eliminating the risk of tampering and enhancing security.
The hinges are concealed when the door is closed, leaving only the knuckle visible to prevent tampering. The roller system uses four stainless steel rollers on dual tracks, ensuring smooth operation. These rollers are enclosed in metal casings for both aesthetics and ease of maintenance.
The Visofold 1000 series offers a choice of low or weathered thresholds. The low threshold creates a flush floor level between two spaces, ideal for merging living areas or when the door is frequently open, such as between a main house and conservatory.
The hook bolt locking system on traffic doors is operated by lever handles, which also provide external key access. Intermediate panels feature fold-flat internal handles for shoot bolt locking. Handles are available in white, chrome, or black, and custom RAL colours are available for an additional cost. For ease of use, ‘D’ handles are fitted to the intermediate panels.
